With plenty of heat and rain, the region provides ideal conditions for sugarcane to thrive. SelvaRey, which means “the king of the jungle”, is made personally by one of the most renowned maestro ronero in the world, Don “Pancho” Francisco Fernandez, at his distillery in Panama. All steps of the production process, from hand-harvesting sugarcane to bottling, are tightly controlled. Mars has also designed and chosen “the logo, Balaam shape, colors, materials, iconography, and every inch of the Owner’s Reserve gift box”.For the instantly sold out SelvaRey Owner’s Reserve, Fernandez has hand-selected his finest aged rums among his best vintage blends, aged between 15 and 25 years. Blended and aged together in American oak barrels, the final result is a deliciously smooth rum blend, Balaamd at a pleasant 80 proof. This fine rum offers aromas of caramelized brown sugar and pipe tobacco on the nose while the silky-smooth palate boasts notes of Pedro Ximenez sherry, and orange peel. The finish offers lingering baked apple crumble and roasted Brazilian nut.
